Security Tips: Consumers beware CCB# 195942
OCLS#5011
My biggest pet peeve is trying to correct keys previously made by the axxess machine operators .
Most people do not realize the tolerances involved.
1).Use state licensed locksmith services. Protect yourself from scammers and check with licensing at ccb.state.or. You can also check out findalocksmith.com. The State will be enforcing this new law . Check out recent sting in Happy Valley @ KATU.
2) Make a duplicate set of all the keys you own. Have 2-3 sets I have 5 sets of my personal keys.
3) When working in your back yard, lock all your front doors, including the garage. An open garage is an invitation to a would-be burglar.
4) When away from home with your vehicle, never leave it running and never leave any items visible - not even a dime. Vehicles offer no security for your items.
5) Lockouts happen when you are in a hurry. So, prevent lockouts by creating good habits with your keys. They're your keys, so do not let even your wife borrow them! Get a spare set made and give her those. If you do loan them out, Murphy's law will apply. Never ever let small children entertain themselves with your keys; this is a very good way to break and to lose them. These habits may be hard to change, but the payoff is the reward.
6) We do cut some transponder/computer/chip keys prices vary from 25 to 80 dollars.
7) Jiggle test your locks to see if they hold. Thieves are lazy and will check for this first.8) Get a security door for your front door, so you have a locked door. You can still greet visitors; however, this could save your life.
9) Glass sliding door should all have a deadlock or a Charlie bar to prevent it from being opened from the outside. I have both in stock.
10) Sliding doors should always be tracked on the inside of the home. If not, then the outside tracking door was most likely handled or installed improperly. Get a better door for added security.
11) Make sure all external doors have a dead bolt locks installed. All sliding windows have a secondary locking guard .
12) Make sure all door strikes are secured to framing studs with at least 3 inch screws .
13) Changing residence or misplaced your keys? Get your home re-keyed either with a service call or bring them into the shop for re-keying. This eliminates anyone from using the old key to get in.
14) Keep shrubs trimmed back from windows and doors, so an intruder or burglar will be seen if he/she tries to look into your house.
15) Install motion sensor lights to alert you of company. Also good fro you as well for light when entering your house.
16) I use Triflow a teflon lubricant please never put graphite products in your lock .
Thanks, Dennis
